CONTROLLING YOUR OWN NARRATIVE:

Protester Throws Shoe at Richard Perle (RUKMINI CALLIMACHI, 2/18/05, AP)

Howard Dean, the newly minted leader of the Democratic Party, and former Pentagon adviser Richard Perle made clear their opposing views on the war in Iraq during a debate marred by a protester who tossed a shoe at Perle.

Perle had just started his comments Thursday when a protester threw a shoe at him before being dragged away, screaming, "Liar! Liar!"


The saboteur gets top billing over Mr. Perle's ideas and then folks whine about the control being exercised over who gets in to see the President speak.

Apropos of nothing, I remember in the early '90s when Pete Wilson was governor of California, he gave a speech at the University thereof in Berkeley. Predictably, some hippies turned up to protest and razz him, and one of them threw an orange at the governor.

The next day, the front page of the LA Times had a photo of the governor, laughing, reaching up and catching the orange while two of his CHP bodyguards reached across him from each side to try to get it. Now that's controlling your own narrative.

The maturity of the Left is just so impressive these days. Maybe we should have a National Timeout Day where every Democrat can be sent to his room for 24 hours, or until they learn how to behave like adults in a public place.

You left out that after the guy gets hauled off for assault, he and his fellow-travelers then whine for days about on the repression of dissent and free-expression in this country.

I read elsewhere that AP whitewashed the story, the "protester" actually yelled m____f_____ liar etc.

Charming?
